How is the AQI made available?

Air monitoring stations in Alberta continuously monitor pollutants and on a monthly basis submit hourly data to the CASA Data Warehouse.

The CASA Data Warehouse calculates AQI values from this historical, archived data submitted from ambient air monitoring stations.

Near real-time AQI values and near real-time air quality data are also available. These AQI values are calculated hourly at the ambient air monitoring stations and issued hourly by Alberta Environment. Click here to visit the air quality index and current hourly air quality data page. This site provides raw ambient air quality data for the preceding 45 days.
