The major source of benzene and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at urban locations is automobile emissions. VOCs are emitted by numerous other sources including gasoline marketing and storage tanks, petroleum and chemical industries, dry cleaning, fireplaces, natural gas combustion and aircraft.
