Airshed Management ZonesMany of Alberta's air quality issues are local, both in their cause and the solutions required. In these cases, province-wide approaches may not be appropriate or efficient. Air quality management zones provide an opportunity for local stakeholders to design local solutions to their concerns. The primary responsibility of a multi-stakeholder air quality management zone is to develop a management plan to deal with air quality concerns in the region. The issues are defined broadly, reflecting the vision and principles of the Clean Air Strategic Alliance. The success of a zone is largely dependent on the co-operation and dedication of all stakeholders including governments, industries, environmental organizations and the public. There are now eight air quality management zones providing data to the CASA Data Warehouse.
